United States Commemorative Postage Stamps, American Glass
These stamps honor the tradition of glassmaking in the U.S., considered by many to be the nation's first industry.
The glass objects depicted on the stamps represent four types of American glass produced from the mid-18th century to the early 20th century: Free-blown, Mold-blown, Pressed and Art.
Veteran stamp designer Richard Sheaff worked closely with Jane Shadel Spillman and photographer Nicholas Williams, both of the Corning Museum of Glass, and with photographer Robert Schlowasky to produce the colorful images.
